About This Tool

Our Mission: Making Justice Accessible Through Technology

The legal system can be complex and intimidating. We believe that technology can help simplify it.

This Small Claims Court (SCC) Navigator is a free, public-good tool designed to give you the confidence to take the first steps in resolving your dispute. It helps you understand the process and prepare the correct documents, one step at a time.

A New Kind of Partnership

This tool is made possible through a unique partnership between legal experts and technology specialists. The SCC Navigator is the first project from the Justice Lab, a technology partner focused on building digital tools for the public good.

The legal guidance, review, and funding for this project are proudly provided by the pro bono and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) department of "Your Law Firm!". This collaborative model allows us to combine deep legal expertise with agile technology development. The firm's support ensures this tool, and others like it, can remain free and accessible to everyone.

Our Vision: A Suite of Digital Justice Tools

The SCC Navigator is just the beginning. It is the foundational tool in our planned Digital Access-to-Justice Suite. We are actively developing new tools to address common legal challenges faced by South Africans. Our roadmap, guided by the expertise of our legal partners, includes:

  • A Domestic Worker Employment Contract Generator
  • A Maintenance Claim Preparation Guide
  • A CCMA Referral Helper

Our goal is to create a trusted place where any citizen can find simple, clear, and reliable digital tools to help them understand and enforce their rights.

A Critical Note on Legal Advice

This tool provides procedural information and guidance only. It is not a substitute for legal advice from a qualified legal professional. Using this tool does not create a lawyer-client relationship between you and [Your Lab Name] or [Law Firm Name]. While we strive for accuracy, we are not liable for any errors or omissions. You are responsible for meeting all court deadlines and for the accuracy of the information you provide.
